RICE CO-OP
The Rice Coop Committee meeting is pictured in the new storage room that was built on the back of the house at TNT for the rice storage. It cost a little over $750 to build the 30 by 10 foot room that is well lighted, ventilated and secure and the new scales cost $29. This was furnished by the church in Mena, Arkansas.
The rice, seen at the rear of the picture, is now beginning to be repaid and the committee felt certain that they can get 100% of it returned. The committee members come from different villages in the area and they are each taking the responsibility to contact all the borrowers in their area to assure that the rice is returned.
Because of the serious drought the committee asked if additional rice could be furnished, above what they have in the coop, for the coming year. I assured them that if 100% of this years loaned rice was returned more could be added. This they said would motivate the very poorest of the borrowers to return what they have borrowed. IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING. They are all indebted to you for making this possible.
