IF I COULD DO IT AGAIN

Missionaries Tex Williams, Dan Coker, Howard Norton, Wendell Broom, Phil Slate, Bill McDonough, Dan & Joyce Hardin, and Glover Shipp sat on a panel at the Global Missions Conference in Arlington, Texas, July 20-23, and shared the following advice with younger missionaries. All have spent their lives (40 or more years) in foreign missions.

If I could do it over again I would:

  • Work more closely with governments
  • Recruit more missionaries to come where I was working
  • Wait until I was 30 years old to go
  • Teach more on stewardship
  • Would not argue as much about methodology
  • Teach more on the participation of every Christian
  • Teach Singing and how to Pray
  • Work to lift people up
  • Be supported by one church
  • Do more graduate work in Bible and Missions
  • Get more language training
  • Learn more about how to train others
  • Would start a school
  • Work more with Children
  • Stay on the field longer
  • Spend more time with MY children
  • Raise my children on the foreign field and put them in National schools
  • Slow down expansion rate and take more time with new Christians
  • Not give aid to people, but help them help themselves
  • I'd do it again!
