Bob Buchannon and Ken Wilkey from the Philippines were joined by Kirk McCrary and Lloyd Cain from the USA to teach in our second Village Church Leaders Seminar. For two weeks 26 brothers from 7 different congregations studied the Bible eight hours a day.
These seminars are proving to be an effective means of helping developing leaders gain Bible knowledge and leadership skills. This time we studied the “Life and example of church leaders”, “The Gospel of John” and “How to reach more friends through Personal Evangelism.”
The local church provided the translators, cooks and housing for those attending.
Three days were spent in Saigon, Vietnam last week working with the Nhabe Ship Building Company on the finishing touches of the New Boat plans. It is now under construction and projected completion is seven to nine months. We will be making three or four day trips each month to follow the construction and be available for consulting as it moves forward. After more then three years of work and waiting it is now moving forward.
Dr. Rick Northern and his wife Gail, have announced plans to move to Cambodia next fall and agreed to work with the Clinical Boat Project. They are leaving a lucrative Dental Practice in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where Rick has also been serving as an elder, to fulfill their dream of evangelizing in a foreign nation. We are so thankful for their decision and believe this will give us an added dimension to make the project even more successful.
Under the very able leadership of our national co-worker, Lorch Choeu the young brethren are going out evangelizing. Two weeks ago nine were baptized and this week two others at another location. Three new congregations were established in the last few weeks bringing the total in Central Cambodia to twelve where two years ago there were only two.
Bible School Student Baptizing Nine In The Mekong
New missionaries Nathan and Cheryl Wheeler with help of some of our English Bible Study converts began meeting this week in a new location in the city to establish a second congregation in Phnom Penh. With help from these talented young converts they hope to build a thriving, responsible congregation. This is just one more part of the total strategy for evangelizing the nation.
